International cruise ships will again visit the Port of Hamina next summer, continuing the successful cruise business launched in recent years. The vessels expected in Kotka next summer are:
9 July MV Ocean Majesty
25 July MS Serenissima
13 August MS Hebridean Sky
21 August Costa Favolosa
24 August Costa Magica
All in all, the cruise ships will bring about 8,300 passengers and about 2,500 crew members to the region. According to the landside service providers, there will be trips for the cruise guests in the same manner as in the previous years, and some new product packages will also be put together. Estimates suggest that most of the passengers are independent travellers, which will also be reflected in the streets of Hamina and Kotka.
The cruise business is nowadays developed by the port company, and there will be considerable focus on relationships with cruise shipping companies. Sales efforts already concern the years 2021 to 2022.
“At the moment, it seems that the objectives concerning the enhancement of the cruise business to the next level will be reached, and the number of visiting cruise ships will increase significantly as early as 2021. After Sarens’ project is completed, we have a goal of having cruise ships also in Hamina in the summer of 2021,” says Petra Cranston, Project Manager, Cruise Business, of Port of HaminaKotka Ltd.
